By downloading, accessing or using the Backpacker mobile application (the "App") provided by Reconchille Studios ("we", "us" or "our"), an independent app studio operated by an individual developer based in Türkiye, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use (the "Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the App. These Terms incorporate our Privacy Policy by reference.
Backpacker is a packing checklist. It ships with trip templates you can open and edit, lets you build your own bags, and — for subscribers — can draft a list from a trip you describe using an AI model. Your bags are stored on your own device.
We grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the App on Apple-branded devices you own or control, as permitted by the App Store Terms of Service. You may not copy, modify, reverse-engineer, decompile, rent, resell or redistribute the App, or use it to build a competing product, except where that restriction is prohibited by law.
The App is free to download and use. Without a subscription you may keep two bags at a time — a bag being either a trip template you have opened or one you created yourself. Deleting a bag frees the slot, so you can always swap. Backpacker AI requires a subscription.
Backpacker Pro removes the two-bag limit, opens every trip template, and unlocks Backpacker AI.
There is no free trial. You are charged when you subscribe.
Backpacker Pro is an auto-renewing subscription sold through the App Store in two plans:
| Plan | Billing period | Price (US) |
|---|---|---|
| Backpacker Pro Weekly | Every week | USD 4.99 |
| Backpacker Pro Yearly | Every year | USD 29.99 |
Prices shown are for the United States storefront. In every other country the price is set by Apple's equivalent price point in your local currency and may include tax; the exact amount you will be charged is always shown on the purchase screen inside the App before you confirm, and that figure prevails over the table above.
Payment is charged to your Apple Account on confirmation of purchase. Apple, not us, processes the payment; we never receive your payment details.
Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before the period ends. Your Apple Account is charged for the renewal within 24 hours of the end of the current period.
You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time in Settings → your name → Subscriptions on your device. Cancelling stops future renewals; it does not end the period you have already paid for, and you keep Pro until that period expires. Deleting the App does not cancel the subscription.
Purchases are handled by Apple, so refunds are governed by Apple's refund policy and requested through Apple, not through us. Where the law of your country gives you a statutory right of withdrawal or a refund right, that right applies regardless of anything in this section.
We may change subscription prices. Where Apple's rules require it, an existing subscriber's price only changes after Apple has notified you and, depending on the change, obtained your consent; otherwise the subscription simply does not renew. A price change never applies retroactively to a period you have already paid for.
Backpacker AI sends the trip you describe to a language model and returns a suggested list. Because it is a generative model:
Generation requires an internet connection and is subject to fair-use rate limits, both in the App and on our server, to keep the feature available to everyone. We may adjust those limits.
Everything the App produces is a suggestion, not advice. Backpacker does not check, and cannot check, airline baggage rules, liquid and battery restrictions, customs or import rules, visa or documentation requirements, prescription medication rules, or the safety equipment a given activity needs. Always verify anything that matters against the airline, the authority or a qualified professional. The final decision about what goes in your bag is yours.
You agree not to: use the App for anything unlawful; attempt to bypass the subscription, the free-tier limits or the rate limits; automate, scrape or bulk-generate requests; probe or attack our servers; or submit content into Backpacker AI that is unlawful, that infringes someone's rights, or that contains another person's sensitive personal data. We may block access that breaches this section.
The App's checklists work offline. Backpacker AI depends on our server and on a third-party model provider, and we do not guarantee it will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may modify, suspend or discontinue any feature. If we permanently discontinue Backpacker AI while you hold an unexpired subscription, you may seek a pro-rata refund from Apple for the remaining period.
Your bags, your item names and the text you type remain yours. We claim no ownership of them. Because your bags never reach our servers, you are solely responsible for keeping them — use your device backup if they matter to you. We are not able to recover a bag you have deleted.
The App, its name, its design, its artwork and its curated template lists are owned by Reconchille Studios and protected by intellectual property law. Nothing in these Terms transfers any of it to you beyond the licence in section 3.
The App relies on Apple (distribution, payment, place-name suggestions), Google's Gemini API (list generation), RevenueCat (subscription status) and Supabase (hosting). Their terms govern their own services. We are not responsible for their acts or omissions, though we remain responsible to you for the App itself.
THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT ANY GENERATED PACKING LIST IS COMPLETE, ACCURATE OR SUITABLE FOR YOUR TRIP.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST DATA, MISSED TRAVEL, DENIED BOARDING, CONFISCATED ITEMS OR ANY OTHER LOSS ARISING FROM SOMETHING YOU DID OR DID NOT PACK. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE APP IS LIMITED TO THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US FOR IT IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM AROSE.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected.
You may stop using the App at any time by deleting it — remember to cancel the subscription separately. We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially breach these Terms. Sections 12 through 16 and 19 survive termination.
We may update these Terms. The date at the top of this page shows when they last changed, and material changes will be noted in the App's release notes. Continuing to use the App after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Türkiye, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and the courts and execution offices of Istanbul have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere, you keep the protection of the mandatory consumer law of your country of residence and may bring proceedings there. Before bringing any claim, please contact us at info@reconchillestudios.com so we can try to resolve it informally.
These Terms are between you and Reconchille Studios only, not with Apple. Apple is not responsible for the App or its content. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the App. If the App fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price; to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation. Apple is not responsible for addressing any claim relating to the App, including product liability, regulatory non-compliance, or consumer protection claims. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.
Your use of the App must also comply with the Apple Standard End User Licence Agreement, which applies in addition to these Terms.
